We are rebuilding our website.  We have created a new section called Designer Collections - The Mirabilia section is now complete - you can now order a chart, sparkly bits, cotton packs (if available) and fabric all in one location.  Please have a look & let us know what you think.  We will be adding more designers to this section as we can.  You will still be able to order fabric and threads in the old format, but all charts & sparkly bits kits will be moved to the new format.

Revised Pricing from February 1, 2008.  We have revised & simplified our standard fabric pricing in alignment with our increased wholesale presence.  We would like to support as many LNS's as possible, if you have a local shop you believe would benefit from our range, please let us know & we can contact them with our wholesale information.

COMING SOON - Due to overwhelming demand we will be dyeing 40ct Newcastle linen.  We expect to have this in stock early April 2008!  We will be dyeing to order initially & revising the situation as we measure demand for certain colours.

Discontinued Colours November 2007- Due to circumstances beyond our control, we are having to discontinue several colours due to dye unavailability.  This will effect Spice Blends Butterfly Garden, Sea Mist, Gold Rush, Eureka!, Heritage & Tundra, as well as Spice Sensations Sun & Earth 603, 604 & 607.  We will be selling out of our stock on hand & will be unable to dye any of these colours to order.  Over the Christmas period we will be working on some replacement colours as well as some new colours for launch in the New Year.

Our Fabrics

We use only premium quality Zweigart fabrics to ensure the best possible result for your project.

Each piece is overlocked to prevent fraying.  Our fabrics are washed and rinsed several times to remove all excess dye.  Dimensions are based on the pre-dyed piece, so some shrinkage may occur during the dyeing process.

At present we offer the follow fabrics in our range:  14ct, 16ct & 18ct Aida,  22ct Hardanger, 25ct Dublin Linen, 28ct Cashel Linen, 32ct Belfast Linen, 36ct Edinburgh Linen and 28ct Evenweaves - Jobelan and Jubilee, as well as 32ct Jobelan & 32ct Lugana and 25ct Lugana. 

Our Opalescents range is comprised of Aida 14ct, Aida 16ct, Belfast 32ct Linen, Cashel 28ct Linen, Lugana 28ct (Brittney) and Lugana 32ct (Murano).

We also stock Quilter's Muslin and Shanghai Linen (approx 34ct, but not an evenweave linen) for stitchery or creative embroidery projects.

If you prefer a different fabric, please let us know as we are constantly reviewing colours and fabrics.

Treatment of Fabrics

Do not leave hand dyed fabric on q-snaps, frames, hoops or scroll rods when you are not stitching.  When you are finished stitching for the day, please remove them, or if using a scroll rod, loosen the tension significantly.

You may wash & iron your hand dyed fabrics the same as standard fabrics.

While we have rinsed to ensure colourfastness, to be on the safe side, we recommend a gentle rinse before any stitching is done, especially with darker colours.

Different Fibres

Different fabrics react differently to the dyeing process.  This is a combination of fibre content and tightness of weave.  Generally speaking, Aida has a softer effect, whereas Linen takes the dye more strongly.  We have scanned the colourways by fabric type to show the individual effect, but if requesting a custom or specialty piece, please keep this in mind.

Our Product Range

Spice Sensations are our single colour range but still have texture for hand-dyed originality.  With less colour movement than the blends, this range offers an alternative to factory produced product and allows a greater variety of unique colour choices and subtle changes in shade.

Spice Blends are a more obvious hand dyed fabric.  These will work well for those stitchers looking for an antiqued effect or a subtle blend of colours for creating that unique project.  Each piece of fabric in this collection is a one of a kind.  Although we use the same colours on different pieces, each fabric has it’s own character and style.  Since each piece is individually created, the images shown are representative of that design.

Specialty Spices are for the more daring stitcher looking for something truly amazing and individual.  Special effects available include ripples and starbursts. 

Designer Spices offer special effects for designer specific project such as MLI’s Celtic Banner, Emma’s Garden and Firefly Fairies, plus others as requested.

Spice Packs group a range of distinctive products together at a special price.
